Denizes Eunice 5, 15,000gns

First of the heifers to make 15,000gns was the supreme champion, Denizes Eunice 5, from Messrs Barlow, Leyland. This June 2023-born daughter of Saltire Impressive is out of a previous Eunice by Denizes Hamish. The judge, Jonathan Gunn, Mavsey herd, Lybster, backed his decision to take it home.

Cade's Kathleen Rockstar, 15,000gns

Also making 15,000gns was Cade's Kathleen Rockstar, a January 2024-born entry from Paul and Sharrie Cade, Peterborough. Selling to Mary Cormack, Leominster, as a foundation female, this entry is by Sacombe Jameson and out of Brandane Kathlee.

Setting a sale record for a heifer calf at 14,000gns was the youngest in the catalogue, the March-born Islavale Amanda 17 (P) from the Stronach family, Keith. Sired by Incheoch Niko and out of a previous Amanda, this reserve calf champion from the pre-sale show sold to Hannah Wood, Deerwood herd, Preston.

Richard McCulloch, West Lothian, sold his September 2023-born Overhill House Panela to Darcey Roberts, Ellesmere, for 8,000gns. Scanned in-calf, it is by the 30,000gns Denizes Lancelot and out of Overhill House Missy.

Two Islavale heifers made 7,000gns to T.S. and G.E. Powell, Burlane herd, Myddle. First up was the reserve champion, the Islavale Lucifer-sired Islavale Rae, and second was Islavale Regal which is by Bighill Parker.

A strong trade for the Simmental cross Hi Health heifers topped at 4,300gns for 17-19-month-old heifers from Alex Bulmer, North Yorkshire.

Averages:Ìý6 served heifers, £7,962.50; 17 maiden heifers, £4,317.94; 2 heifer calves, £9975; 20 commercial heifers, £2,898.
