Dulais Silver Lustre
Leading the way was Dulais Silver Lustre, 听the sixth consecutive generation of EX cows and milking in its fourth lactation.
Projected to give more 14,000kg and back in-calf for early 2024, with a heifer by Stantons Chief, it was knocked down for 40,000gns to a syndicate comprising the Howni, Iscaway, Logan, Shambles and Wiltor herds.
Its six-month-old calf by Legend-Maker Victur was bought via Marteye by the Patton family's Ards herd and Robert Stewart's Quinton herd, Northern Ireland.
The freshly-calved heifer Tregibby Chief Melody, just calved a fortnight and already scored with 87 points, made 15,000gns to Peter Prior, Designer Holsteins, Essex, bidding by telephone, and its heifer calf made 3,000gns to Philip Sevenoaks, Brecon.
The in-calf heifer Churchvale Sidekick Amy, backed by seven generations EX dams, out of a cow bought for 7,700gns at the 2020 Whinchat Sale and due in November to sexed Chief, made 11,500gns to Messrs Innes who were the sale's biggest volume buyers, securing 16 animals, mainly milkers, for their Newmeadow herd, Invernesshire.
At the 2020 Black and White sale, Hefin Wilson, in partnership with the Davies family, bought Holben Snapples Storm for 9,500gns. Its dam and maternal sister are two of the most successful show cows in North America and Canada in recent times. They had a worthwhile dividend on their investment when selling its Stantons Chief daughter to Blaise Tomlinson, Leicestershire, for 11,000gns.
The 93-pointed Tregibby Sidekick Barbara, bred by the Wilsons but consigned by Messrs Thomas, sold for 10,000gns to Andrew Mackellar of Staffordshire-based Drointon Farms.
Making 9,500gns was Tregibby Lanbda Kitty which calved its first calf at one year nine months and joined the Ingleview herd of Robert and Elaine Butterfield, Bentham, for 9,500gns.
There were 76 individual buyers recorded at the sale and 27 animals made 5,000gns or more, with a further 25 selling between 4,000 and 5,000gns.听 听
