McConnel adds telescopic variable reach option to 77-Series hedge cutters

McConnel has introduced its telescopic forward reach technology to its 77-Series Power Arm range, bringing the forward reach system to its mid-range machines for the first time.

Previously available only on McConnel's larger hedge cutters, Tele-VFR combines variable forward reach with telescopic arm movement, allowing operators to position the cutting head further forward for improved visibility while also extending reach around roadside obstacles and street furniture. The company says the system can improve operator comfort, precision and productivity during verge and hedge maintenance work.

To suit the 77-Series platform, the cutter arm assembly has been redesigned and now uses a phased cylinder system rather than a mechanical parallelogram arrangement, claiming to reduce weight while increasing the available range of movement. The flail head angling cylinder has also been repositioned to improve manoeuvrability and overall arm geometry.

The 77-Series range is aimed at professional users including contractors, local authorities and farmers, and features larger pivot pins, a standard 70hp hydraulic system and an optional 85hp package. Additional updates include improved service access, LED road lighting, Soft-Start rotor engagement and an optional integrated debris blower. The new Tele-VFR option is available to order now through McConnel dealers.
