Tonley Mr Bongobingo, 13,000gns
Bongobingo is top bull at Borderway
FOUR bulls sold for 10,000gns or above at the spring show and sale of Aberdeen-Angus cattle at Carlisle, where the top price of 13,000gns fell to a first prize winner.
This was Tonley Mr Bongobingo, a 13-month-old that had secured three red rosettes at the winter calf shows for Neil Wattie, Alford. Its pedigree featured Tonley Endgame on to Blelack Miss Bangle, a Blelack Equity daughter. The buyer was Messrs Forbes, Nairn.
Ross Farms, Gorebridge, paid 11,000gns for class winner, Duncanziemere Eddie, a Hillfoots Eldorado-sired 14-month-old from A. Clark and Sons, Cumnock.Ìý
Two bulls sold for 10,000gns apiece with the first being Cardona Jewel Eric from J. Robert Galloway, Doune. Sired by Rulesmains Kai V226, it sold to Messrs Charleton, Kirkwhelpington.
Matching that when sold to Messrs Ralstone, Torrance, was Retties Looney Tunes by Tonely Ronald from R. and C. Rettie, Falkirk.ÌýÌý
Messrs Clark's Hillfoots Eldorado-sired Duncanziemere Eric sold to Messrs Ford, Kelso, for 9,000gns, with that price matched by Falansh Euro, a Gretnahouse Egbert son from Lisa Fleming, Hawick, which sold to Tullie Farming, Hawick.

Tonley Albie, a Gretnahouse Krack Light son from Messrs Wattie, realised 7,500gns when sold to Messrs Gray, Alnwick.
Messrs Wattie sold a pair of Inkstack Frontier-sired 18-month-old heifers, Tonley Ester and Tonley Emily, for 4,000gns apiece to Grahamslaw Farming Partnershire, Kelso.

Llwynhywel lads lead Beef Shorthorns
A BRACE of bulls from Messrs Evans and Price, Rhosygarth. headed up the Beef Shorthorn entry when they sold for 9,000gns and 7,500gns.
Selling to Messrs Currie and Son, Lanark, for the top price was Llwynhywel Volcano, a two-year-old which was reserve junior inter-breed champion at last year's Royal Welsh Show.Ìý Sired by Coxhill Patrick, its dam is the 15,000gns Elliot Miss Lea 825, a Sull Cyclone daughter.
Messrs Wood, Biggar, paid 7,500gns for its herd mate, Llwynhywel Viceroy, by a home-bred Diamond Captain Mark son and out of the Juaul Maelstom-sired Lipwood Telluria.
Meonside Venom by Meonside King Kong from D. and T. Bradley Farmer, Parkgate, sold to Messrs Leach, Warmington, for 6,000gns.
Messrs Dickie, Sanquhar, paid 5,800gns for Westbroad Victor, a Shawhill Leroy son from J.W. Frame, Biggar.
Females peaked at 6,200gns for the oldest on offer, the January 2024-born Oakleigh Victoria from P. Turnbull, Whitby. Sired by Meonside Pavarotti Ex95 and out of the Mountbenger Lucas daughter, Oakleigh Precious, Victoria sold to Messrs Bolton, Macclesfield, having run with Oakleigh Smasher.
Messrs Bolton paid a further 5,000gns for the similarly-bred Oakleigh Vienna which also ran with Oakleigh Smasher. IÌý
The draft sale of Ballard females from Messrs Hugill, Sproxton, peaked at 3,500gns for the Fearn Muir-sired two-year-old, Ballard Gem Veronique, which is out of an Oakleigh Kildale Lad daughter. It sold to Messrs Holt and Sons, Thornton-Cleveleys.
Messrs Bell, Keswick, paid 2,300gns for the dearest from Messrs Baily's draft of Roadway females from Appleby-in-Westmorland. That was Roadway Desiree, a 23-month-old Regulator of Upsall daughter.

Herefords hit 5,200gns
A SMALL entry of Herefords at Carlisle reached 5,200gns for Auckvale 1 Bradley from W. and R. Kemp and Sons, Bishop Auckland.
Selling to Messrs Moscrop, Carlisle, it is by Auckvale 1 Vice Chancellor and out of a home-bred Dendor 1 Muttley daughter.
Messrs Hewson, Carlisle, paid 4,500gns for Fellowhills 1 Cheers, a Studdolph 1 Goldfinger son from J. Hodge, Berwick-upon-Tweed.
