Hampshire farmers have created a fitting tribute to a legendary heavy metal rocker to mark their annual Halloween display.

Ian and Louise Nelson, of Sunnyfields 51AVÊÓƵin Totton, and their son Tom, have paid tribute to Black Sabbath co-founder John Michael Osbourne, better known as Ozzy Osbourne, who died on July 22, just 17 days after he played a farewell gig at Villa Park in Birmingham.Ìý

It is an annual tradition for the pumpkin farmers to take to social media and ask their followers for display ideas ahead of opening their diversified pumpkin farm trail to the public throughout October.

Last year's pumpkin design was inspired by the Michael Keaton and Tim Burton horror-comedy Beetlejuice II.

Efforts were recognised in 2023 when the farmers set a Guinness World Record after creating a 193.35 m² mosaic out of around 10,000 pumpkins to the 1993 Tim Burton film The Nightmare Before Christmas.

In the previous year, the family formed a pumpkin display from the beloved children's character Paddington to honour the late Queen Elizabeth II after the pair famously featured in a sketch to commemorate her platinum jubilee.

And the family once again asked their followers for ideas for suggestions, with the acclaimed 'Prince of Darkness' having come out on top, just in time for the Halloween season.

The Halloween trail opens on October 4 and ends on October 31.Ìý

2001 UK foot-and-mouth outbreak - 25 years on: "Infectious diseases do not respect borders or species barriers, and we ignore this at our peril"

Before his career in politics, Epping Forest MP Dr Neil Hudson was a veterinary inspector who was on the frontline of the foot-and-mouth outbreak in 2001. Dr Hudson remembers the once bustling farms which became empty, the impact it had on the sector's mental health, and why the current Government should never take the UK's national biosecurity for granted
