Sheep Dog Spectacular hits 拢18,400
SHEEP dogs sold to 拢18,400 with a four-month-old pup to 拢9,600 at the online Sheep Dog Spectacular Part Two sale hosted by Harrison and Hetherington.
With nine dogs selling for more than 拢6,000 it was a Midderry Frank son from Welshman, Kevin Evans, that sold for the top price of 拢18,400 to a buyer near Middlesborough. This was Beacons Billy, a red and white dog out of Foxridge Gail, which was an experienced work dog ready for open trials.
Selling just shy of a record for a pup, Sal from Dewi Jenkins, Aberystwyth, sold to a buyer in Virginia, USA, for 拢9,600. Its sire is Clwyd Bob, the 2025 supreme champion while its dam, Meg, goes back to Hutchinson's Sweep.
Powys-based Kevin Evans welcomed a further 拢7,600 from a buyer in Co Kerry for a 10-month-old Clwyd Bob daughter named Kemi Cass which is out of Kemi Sal.
Selling to Co Tyrone was Pip from T. O'Sullivan, Co Kerry. Sired by Hendre Sam, its dam goes back to Hybeck Blake.
Derbyshire's Rebecca Dykes sold her lilac and white dog, Martini Silver for 拢6,400. This Caefelin Clem son is out of Dunelle Trim and sold to a buyer in Denbighshire.
Heading to Shetland for 拢6,200 was Roy by Cefneithin Roy from Aleksandra Dawidowicz, Co Waterford.听听

Strong dairy demand at Exeter
MORE than 200 dairy cattle sold at Exeter where 17 passed the 拢3,000 mark and two shared the top price of 3,700gns.
Entries for the dispersal of 100 mainly Holstein Friesian cows and heifers from Andrew Parker and family, Tones, led the trade with two October-calving heifers at 3,700gns apiece.
Similar sorts from the dispersal of year-round calving, non-recorded cattle also sold to 3,600gns, 3,450gns and 3,400gns twice, as 75 cows in-milk (including faults) averaged 拢2,478 with 10 in-calf heifers at 拢2,268 and 10 bulling heifers at 拢1,281.
The main consignment sold to 拢3,300 and 拢3,200 for two second-calvers from Caroline and Jess Tapp, Tiverton.
A run of October-calving cows from Martin, Sandra and James Gould, Whimple, reached 拢2,800 for third-calvers.
Two pedigree Shorthon cows from Jerry Palmer and family, Chulmleigh, made 拢2,700 and 拢2,550, while fresh heifers hit 拢2,500 for one from Mark and Anita Saunders, Cullompton.
The show and sale of Ayrshires on behalf of the South West Club peaked at 2,800gns for a young second-calver, Hilltown Star 702, a Des Fleurs Saguenay from Messrs Nicholls, South Molton.
The same home welcomed 2,400gns for Hilltown Patricia 270, a third-calver by Bargower Royal Stamp.
The 2,400gns was matched by Butterbesley Triclo Daffodil, a second-calver by Sandyford Triclo from Robert and Anita Cornish, Wellington, and also a heifer, Rosehill Razell Oh Velour from the dispersal of Colin and Jenny Christopers' Rosehill herd, Hayle.

Limousin leads at Penrith
A LIMOUSIN bullock from W. and S.E. Dickinson and Son, Greystoke, topped the sale of 259 store cattle at Penrith when it realised 拢2,495.
Heifers reached 拢2,195 for a Simmental from J.C. Thwaites and Son, Thorneycroft.
Native-bred cattle reached 拢2,285 for Beef Shorthorn bullocks from Messrs Wiseman and Son, Pooley Bridge.
A black and white bullock from Messrs Dickinson topped the dairy-breds at 拢2,035, matching by a Normande bullock from J. Findley, Penrith.

Condor soars to 6,000gns
A 15-month-old bull claimed the male championship as well as top price of 6,000gns at the spring show and sale of Herefords at Worcester.
Taking top honours was Coley 1 Condor from Helen Whittaker, Halifax.听The son of Goldingpoll 1 Gold Spice is out of Golding 1 Duchess 916, a Goldingpoll 1 Robust daughter, and made the top price of 6,000gns when knocked down to M. Voss, Hinton St George.听
Following on at 5,700gns was Pepperstock 1 Callum, a Kinglee 1 Wolfman son from Speirs Farms, Luton. Selling to R. Codd and Lewis, Haverfordwest, it is out of the Pepperstock 1 Kingsley daughter, Pepperstock 1 Fascination P353. 听

Two bulls went on to sell for 5,000gns apiece. First when knocked down to D.P. and G. Jones, Penegoes, was the Fabb 1 Northern Star-sired Havenfield 1 Captain from E.L. Lewis and Son, Herefordshire.
Also at 5,000gns was Normanton 1 Condor, a Cleland 1 Nelson son from Messrs Livesey, Leicester. It sold to H. Jope and Son, Saltash.
Females sold to 4,200gns for the section champion, 13-month-old Castle Mount 1 Lilac 465, which sold to C. Jones, Llandiloes.
Consigned by P. Massey, Lancashire, it is by Kinglee 1 Vanguard and out of a previous Lilac by Dorepoll 1 93N Nationwide.

Increased heifer average for Jalex
A TOP of 拢28,000 for a bull and 拢18,000 twice for heifers resulted in a rise of 拢1,128 on the year for in-calf heifers at James Alexander's on-farm Jalex Select Beauties and the Beasts sale near Randalstown, where Joel McGarva was guest auctioneer.
Leading the charge was Jalex Valiant, a two-year-old son of Knockcroghery Scatdaddy which carries one copy each of the NT821 and Q204X myostatin genes.听Its dam is the Ampertaine Elgin-sired Haltcliffe Hesta, a now 14-year-old that has produced past show and sale winners.听Valiant was one of many purchases by John Kingham on behalf of Tateetra Farms, Dundalk.
One of the females making 拢18,000 was Just Do It, a Jagerbomb daughter due with a heifer in September to Powerful Proper.听It sold to Ivan Lynn and Sons, Hillside Commercials.
Matching that 拢18,000 when knocked down to Gordon Cameron, Argyll, was The Real Deal, which is by a son of Germinal de Fooz and was carrying a heifer to Sliabh Felim Sterling.
Next Level, a Bistouri De Tohogne daughter, in-calf to The Grove 51AV视频P381, sold to Hillside Commercials for 拢15,000.听
Selling to Tateetra Farms for 拢11,000 was Bluestar Queenie, a pedigree British Blue heifer by Strawberry Field Northstar and due in August to Sliabh Felim Sterling.

Jerseys in demand at Skipton
A MOTHER and daughter from the first part of the Aireview dispersal for Becky Stapleton, Silsden, both led the offering of dairy cattle at Skipton when the Jersey duo sold for 3,700gns apiece.
The third-calver, Aireview Matt Ruby 2 VG85, won the Jersey section before claiming the inter-breed ticket.听Completing seven generations of VG or EX dams, it sold to Messrs Furness, Buxton, giving 40kg having calved a month prior.
Its Victorious-sired heifer daughter sold to the same buyers due to sexed Big Red in early June.
Ms Stapleton received a further 拢3,050 for Aireview Victorious Cash, an in-calf heifer which sold to Messrs Redmaynes, Lancashire.

Holsteins peaked at 拢2,800 for the reserve champion, a robot-trained heifer from Mark Smith, Winterburn, that calved a week prior and changed hands yielding 29kg.
The reserve from the same home was a Denovo Raffa daughter yielding 35kg having calved three weeks previously, which made 拢2,400.
An entry of 164 spring lambs peaked at 拢270 for heavy Texel cross Suffolks from Mark Evans, Steeton.
This was followed at 拢262 and 拢260 for Suffolks from the same home, while lambs from Messrs Marwood, Whenby, sold to 拢255.
Overall, spring lambs averaged 拢208.91.
Hoggs reached 拢259/head or 558p/kg for J.P Mason, Malton, whose run averaged 501p/kg.

Champion tops Barnard Castle
IT was the champion that went on to sell for the top price at the Centenary show and sale of store cattle at Barnard Castle.
That was a British Blue heifer from Rob Hutchinson, Bowes, which the judge, Northamptonshire's Alistair Twell, later secured for 拢3,700.

Messrs Hutchinson also headed the bullock section with a Blue cross which realised 拢2,880.
Taking the reserve ticket was a Blue bullock from J.W. Dent and Sons, Lartington, which sold for 拢2,080.
The entry of feeding bulls was topped at 拢2,680 by a Limousin from Messrs Dowson and Sartin, Lartington, while the first prize entry from J.R. Walton and Son, Mickleton, realised 拢2,300.
