Iran war: "We are not asking people to ration when it comes to food"

Defra Secretary Emma Reynolds has called for calm as conflict in the Middle East begins to take a stranglehold on farm businesses in the UK. She said food supply is stable and added the Gov is working to ensure there is no 'market abuse' of fertiliser prices

Defra Secretary Emma Reynolds said: "We are not asking people to ration when it comes to food or to change the way they shop in the supermarket. Supply of food is as normal just as the supply of petrol is. We are not asking people to change their behaviour. Obviously, if we did see further increases in energy prices that could have an impact on food inflation which is what we saw in the Ukraine conflict. We are not complacent about any of this."
