Entries from the Finlay family’s Blackcraig herd from Corsock headed up both the male and female sections of the Galloway Cattle Society’s show and sale at Castle Douglas

Blackcraig Gaffer, 22,000gns

Selling for the top price of 22,000gns was Blackcraig Gaffer, a September 2024-born Wareham's Trojan son out of Blackcraig Bertha D1334 which in turn is by Barlaes Rivellino. Gaffer secured a red rosette and stood reserve senior champion at the pre-sale show, and later was knocked down to Messrs Warden, Skelfhill herd, Hawick.

Titan of Glenrath, 20,000gns

Sticking with the males and the team at Glenrath Farms, Peebles, sold bulls to 20,000gns and 17,000gns, both of which are by the 26,000gns world record price bull, Blackcraig Dyker.ÌýDearest when sold in a two-way split to Alan McClymont, Kirkstead herd, Yarrow, and Stewart McIntosh, Borthwickshiels herd, Hawick, was the reserve champion, Titan of Glenrath. Dam of this 22-month-old is the Lochnagar of Gall-way daughter, Future 368 of Troloss.

Titan's younger herdmate, Topgun of Glenrath, also sold in a two-way split, this time to Richard Nixon, Marbrack herd, Carsphairn, and Dexter and Carolyn Logan, Rogan herd, Stirling. Its dam is the Blackcraig Rasputin-sired Troloss Jess.

Ben Lomond Ironman from Messrs Maxwell, Drymen, followed on at 14,000gns. Sired by Zonda of Kilnstown and out of the Klondyke Raider-bred Ben Lomond Wildfloer, Ironman sold to Michael McCornick, Barquhill herd, Wigtown.

Females peaked at 5,000gns for the Finlays' female champion, Blackcraig Moss Rose A1581, which was knocked down tot the female judge, Fiona Gilligan, High Croach, Gatehouse of Fleet, having run with Blackcraig Ettrick. Full of home breeding, this Blackcraig Acrobat daughter is out of a previous Moss Rose by Blackcraig Vagrant.
