New Beulah Speckled Face breed record set at 17,000gns

It was a record breaking sale at the annual Beulah Speckled Face Sheep Society show and sale held at Builth Wells Market, which met a flying trade, topping at 17,000gns, with 233 rams selling overall, to average £1,235

New Beulah Speckled Face breed record set at 17,000gns

Breaking the previous breed record of 16,600gns set in 2023, was D. E. and G. Davies, Garth, Builth Wells, who bred the sale leader, a yearling ram which went to J. Evans and Son, Llangammarch Wells. Their pen of six rams averaged £3,507.93.Ìý

Next at 10,000gns was for another yearling ram, coming from B. Thomas, Beulah, Llanwrtyd Wells. It was knocked down to T. Davies, Llanwrtyd Wells, who were next in the money, selling a yearling ram for 9,200gns to D. E. and G. Davies, Garth.ÌýÌý

Receiving 9,000gns was J. Evans, Llangammarch Wells, for a yearling ram which was knocked down to G. Davies, Garth.ÌýÌý

Going to the same home was a yearling from T. G. P. Samuel, Newbridge-On-Wye, which sold for 8,200gns.Ìý

The pre-sale show was judged by father and son, Andrew and Nick Jones, Brecon, who chose a yearling ram from G. Davies, as their champion. It went on to sell for 7,500gns to T. G. P. Samuel, Newbridge-On-Wye. Ìý

While Carmarthenshire breeders, E. B. and S. Jones, Blaenblodau, bought a ram from R. G. and B. M. Jones, Garth for 6,700gns.Ìý
