Dean McCullough: "Go on to all the farmers who are listening to BBC Radio 1"

Dean McCullough, host of the BBC Radio 1 Breakfast Show, gave the 24 Hours in Farming campaign a shout-out after reading a message from Tom, a young farmer, who had contacted the show to spread the word.

Dean said: "Big news, it's #farm24 today and time for all the farmers to shout about what [they] do.

"Go on Tom and to all the farmers who are listening to BBC Radio 1 this morning."

#farm24

As the biggest digital agricultural campaign in the UK, #farm24 aims to showcase what farmers do in a 24-hour period to produce the country's food.

Now in its tenth year, the campaign is supported through social media and wider mainstream media coverage, including on BBC Radio.

Newsbeat

Shortly after Dean's shoutout, BBC Radio 1's Newsbeat also mentioned agriculture, highlighting the challenges and isolation often faced by farmers. The bulletin referenced the Government's recent commitment to increase funding for mental health and farmer support.

The mention coincides with BBC's own Farmwatch initiative, which also runs today and supports the work #farm24 has championed for the past decade.
