Topping the trade at £5,900 Ìýat the Farmers Guardian supported sale of show potential cattle at Brecon was the May 2024-born Limousin cross heifer, Black Pearl, from R. W. and L. A. Jones, Lower Argoed, Builth Wells. Having stood second in the class to the overall champion, it sold to B. and T. Kitson, Yarm, North Yorkshire.

The June 2024-born Limousin heifer, Motsi, claimed the pre-sale championship under judge, Tecwyn Jones, for Phil and Tracey Jones and family, Tyisaf, Builth Wells, who were taking the title for the third consecutive year.

A full sister to last year's champion, Motsi, by 30,000gns Millgate Rob out of a British Blue cross cow made £5,800 to Colin Harries, Torrington, Devon.

At the same money was Ginger Spice, the pre-sale show reserve champion, also from the Jones family, Tyisaf. Also by Millgate Rob, it was knocked down to P. F. Fraser, Leighton Buzzard.

At £4,700 and topping the steer trade was the first prized unhaltered steer from L. J. and G. V. Rae, Dursley, Gloucestershire, which sold to Ed and Sarah Layton, Leominster.

Champion in the native sired section was a Beef Shorthorn cross heifer from J. A. V. Mills and Sons, Builth Wells, which made £4,600 to previous buyer, ÌýMr Harries.

The unhaltered champion was a pedigree Limousin heifer, Beulah Vicky, from M. J. and J. M. Price, Builth Wells, which was snapped up at £4,450 by J. J. and C. A. Phillips, Newcastle Emlyn, for their Silverstone Limousin herd.

Next at £4,000 was a class winner, the Charolais sired heifer, Milky Way, from the Jones family, Lower Argoed, which was the pick of Messrs Bowen, Brecon.

The next two best prices came from Messrs Davies and Millichap, Porth, Glamorgan. Firstly, a Limousin cross heifer by Nealford Sawmill, which had earlier won its class, and made £3,800 to Messrs Fraser. Then at £3,600 was another Limousin cross heifer out of a ÌýTrueman Idol daughter which went to H. Evans, Denbeigh.

H. G. and G. H. M. Davies and Son, Brecon, topped their pen with a pedigree Limousin heifer at £3,550. Sired by Ritchies Seryl and out of Beulah Rose which made £3,550 to Messrs Layton.
