ON the first day of the February bull sales at Stirling, Aberdeen-Angus peaked at 15,000gns, with the 66 bulls averaging 拢6,499, up 拢67 on the year with an 86 per cent clearance rate.
Topping the trade 15,000gns was Galcantray Jedi Eric V287, a May 2019-born bull from David Walker, Nairn. The first son of JAC Just Eric N026, a MAC Elvis K085 sired bull, out of Galcantray Jilly Erica N615, sold in a two-way split to Jonathan Doyle, for this Drumhill herd, Cookstown, Co Tyrone, and Neil and Graeme Massie, Blelack, Aboyne.
Next at 12,000gns for Alistair Clark and Sons, Cumnock, was April 2019-born bull, Duncanziemere Jetstream V322 by the 2019 Royal Highland Show male champion, Carruthers Grenadier R797 out of Duncanziemere Jill S183. It sold to Neil and Mark Wattie, Alford, Aberdeenshire.
Andrew Hodge and his daughter Emma, Duns, sold bulls by Rawburn Braw Lad R041, at 11,500gns and 11,000gns.
At 11,500gns was April 2019-born Rulesmains Lord Hugh V245 which was bought by J. King, Thorntonhall, and at 11,000gns was Rulesmains Kai V226, also an April 2019-born bull which sold to J. Robert Galloway, Cardona, Perthshire.
The other bull to make 11,000gns was Idvies Frank V892, an April 2019-born bull by Idvies Kaiser S784 out of Idvies France N606, from F.J. Fraser and Son, Forfar, which was knocked down to Balgay Farm, Perthshire.
Dallas Allen, Alnwick, sold the Rawburn Estonian S383 son, Stouphill Major Primus V267 for 10,500gns to W. Manning, Blairgowrie.
Full ET brothers by Netherallan Peter Pershore E052 out of Belhaven Pole Star H070 from the Trustees of the late Gordon R. Brooke, Earlston, both sold for 10,000gns.
First was Gordon Picasso V448 which sold to Aberdeenshire breeder, W.A.L. Lawson, Alford, followed by Gordon Phoenix V451 which sold to G.M. Mitchell and Son, Cupar, Fife.
Females sold to 3,200gns for McCornick Duchess V641, a June 2019-born Skaill Dino P099 daughter from Martin McCornick, Newton Stewart, which was bought by S. and J. Fisher, Roxburghshire.
