Following personal experience with a total-loss baler fire, PJM Agri developed the Mektron Fire Shield as a mobile fire-fighting platform for farmers and contractors.
Developed with input and advice from Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service, the 700-litre-capacity system operates with its own Honda pump to provide a maximum flow of 40 litres/minute, with a 25m hose in addition to a 20m range from the mist and stream gun.
The platform has been designed to operate independently of the tractor, with its own pump capable of firefighting fires on the tractor carrying it.

Underneath, a drop-on-and-off crop press can be added, in addition to future developments including a wrap and twine carrier and several toolboxes.
Internal forklift pockets allow the appliance to be carried on a loader or chained to a trailer, with a smaller pick-up truck-sized model in development. Quick-release connectors allow the hoses and gun to be replaced with a pressure washer to provide a wider use for the system outside of harvest.
Prices for the 700-litre unit as shown start at 拢5,000, in addition to another 拢1,000 for the crop press.
