A royal residence has placed a farming speciality lager and cider at the heart of its menu.

Highgrove House, an 18th century in Gloucestershire country residence which formerly belonged to King Charles and Queen Camilla, has chosen to select Hawkstone Brewery lager and cider products at its Orchard Room cafe.

The residence is owned by the Duchy of Cornwall, which is now the Prince of Wales.

Jeremy Clarkson, star of Amazon Prime's Clarkson's Farm, announced in 2021 that he would make his own lager due to lowering government subsidies for farmers.

Barley and other ingredients made in perfecting the alcoholic beverages are grown on Diddly Squat Farm, Mr Clarkson's farming enterprise, in the Cotswolds.

Kaleb Cooper then came on board to join Mr Clarkson in starting Hawstone Cider in 2022 which harvests 40,000 tonnes of apples per year.

Visitors to Highgrove House's Orchard Room cafe can purchase Hawkstone 32cl of lager and cider for £5.95 each.

Each bottle contains 4.8 per cent of alcohol by volume.

Dame Joan Collins recently announced Hawkstone lager was her ‘favourite'.
