A merchant has offered a £1,000 reward for information after a large fire engulfed 30 tonnes of straw near Marlborough.Ìý
Reported in the Wiltshire Times, Saul Kidston, who set up as a Devon-based straw and hay merchant more than 16 years ago, received a call at approximately 4.07pm about a fire which had destroyed some of his straw near Poulton Hill, Marlborough on Wednesday August 25.Ìý
It is understood a nearby resident had witnessed two men walking away from the fire around the same time as she rang the fire brigade.Ìý
Mr Kidston said: "It is devastating really.Ìý
"We have been up here away from home, five of us, since the middle of July battling to get feed for livestock across the West country.Ìý
"There will be farmers now struggling to get their feed."Ìý
He urged anyone with information to call 07557 308957 or inform the Marlborough Police station.Ìý
But a Wiltshire Police spokesperson said: "We are not investigating this at the moment as there are currently no suspicious circumstances surrounding the fire."Ìý
