"New Zealand farming geography offers some of the most rugged and extreme farming conditions you can find. If a machine is built to last in New Zealand, it will work just about anywhere in the world," says Neil Ford, UK sales executive for Aitchison Agri.

The company's extensive range of seed drills, fertiliser spreads and accessories certainly does just that, he says. Founded more than 50 years ago, the brand Aitchison Agri is synonymous with innovation.

The company has claimed many ‘firsts' in the introduction of new no-tillage technologies which have helped farmers around the world become more effective and efficient in their quest for healthy and productive soil.

Aitchison Agri is perhaps best known for its Grassfarmer® and Seedmatic® no-tillage seed drills, which feature a range of tine and disc models originally introduced specifically as highly effective pasture renovation tools.

Both also use the unique Aitchison Agri sponge seeding system, which can sow everything from cereals to brassicas.

"The gentle and accurate sponge distribution system has become the go-to for farmers applying regenerative seed mixes to their pastures," says Mr Ford.

The now-famous Aitchison Agri inverted T-boot opener was originally designed in the early years of the company's inception. Founder Peter Aitchison created it alongside Massey University and it is still regarded as a benchmark for seeding results in just about any seeding environment.

"Today, our seed slot opener has evolved to dramatically reduce damage to soil structures and help reduce carbon emissions," says Mr Ford. "This modern technology is used on the Grassfarmer® and Seedmatic® seed drills, and the highly sophisticated AirPro® range of professional drills as well as the small seed drills for orchards and vineyards.

"Aitchison Agri machinery is built with the sort of quality workmanship you would expect from a company that has been building seed drills for more than 50 years," Mr Ford adds.

In addition to world-leading seed drills, the company is renowned for its spreaders, bale feeders and mowers.

A range of tools and accessories have been created for use with zero tillage farming, such as the Earthquaker Soil Aerator and Transfer Roller which are used as part of regenerative farming zero till methods for soil and organic matter restoration to compliment modern farming practices.

Aitchison Agri has a long history of supplying dealers and distributors all around the world.

Today their equipment can be found on livestock farms, orchards, vineyards, universities, research farms and arable cropping operations in UK, Australia, USA, South America, Japan, Russia and South Africa. And with a new manufacturing facility currently being constructed in South East Asia, the company says it is committed to continuing to supply its machinery to its growing markets around the world.

With a strong presence in the UK, Aitchison Agri has a dedicated salesperson to support end users and dealers around the country.

Additionally, UK machines and spare parts are housed in a central location where they are both assembled and dispatched from, meaning UK customers can access the very best technology New Zealand has to offer, but with UK lead times.

Assistance from Aitchison Agri does not stop at the moment of purchase; spare parts support aims to ensure your machines are kept running for years and years, even in the face of Covid 19.

"Meeting the demand for our customers remains our highest priority," said Mr Ford. "We are working hard to overcome the challenges with supply chains affected by Covid 19, and we remain committed to minimising the effect to our end users."
