Rural Affairs Secretary Huw Irranca-Davies has been appointed as Deputy First Minister of Wales as Eluned Morgan names her first cabinet as Welsh First Minister.

Having replaced Vaughan Gething as Welsh leader on Tuesday (August 6), Ms Morgan said it would be a 'great pleasure to share the journey' in leadership alongside with Mr Irranca-Davies as her new Deputy First Minister.

Former Welsh Labour leader Mark Drakeford has also been named in Ms Morgan's cabinet as the new Health Secretary.Ìý

He has held the position since March 21.

At the Royal Welsh Show last month, Mr Irranca-Davies had told farmers he was still 'committed to the role' and had been enjoying the role of engaging with farmers .
